This week Mr.Sacco's class was in health and P.E. In health we were learning about healthful behaviors and risk behaviors. In P.E. we were using jump ropes and we got to do things on the wrestling mats. We can't wait until fifth grade to see who our gym teacher will be.

We are doing the formatives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are doing the formatives. Formatives are test to get us ready for the state assessments. We are finding the mean of our scores. In Mrs.Bohling's class we are doing reading formatives we have to highlight the main words. Then we read the story. We have to strike out the wrong answers. Then we mark the answer. Then we double check and log out to see our scores. Then we read. The formatives are helpful because they get us ready for the state assessment

Geography Bee
During December, Halstead Middle School had a Geography Bee. Several fourth graders competed in the event. The questions were mostly about seas and countries. All the questions were not taught in the general classroom. There was excitement and frustration in the air. Some of the questions were seventh and eighth grade questions that fourth graders had to answer. Competitors stepped up to the microphone and was asked a difficult question. At the end of the Geography Bee, the scores were tallied up, and people were moved to the finals and then the scores were again tallied up and the winner was an eighth grader. And that is the Geography Bee.

Stone Fox
4th graders have been working on a book called Stone Fox. First you have to read the the story then right down the vocab. words the page the word is on and the paragraph. Then you get to do fun projects. For example one project is dress up as your fav. character and tell the story from characters point of view. Another project is designing a dog sled path. You can also draw a picture of your fav. character and write why you like them. Another one is to train dogs for a dog sled race. Or you can design a dog sled. In the book there's lots of surprises and a good (but sad) ending.

Mrs.Bohling's class with art
This week Mrs.Bohling's class was in art. The first project was to draw instruments and make shapes with contour lines. We used warm colors for the instruments and cool colors for the background. We have a new teacher Mrs.Heidebrecht. She is very nice and good at art. It is different from last year because we go every day and have sinks in the classroom. We think that art is very fun and even though it gets tough we have a great time.
